A lot of racers were starting their season this past weekend at Napierville Dragway for the 10th annual CASTROL Spring Bracket Break, presented by Duraquip and Brossard Performance. Despite a gloomy forecast calling for over 30mm of rain on Saturday, a solid group of racers still made their way to the track on Friday afternoon for the Gambler’s Race—hoping to at least squeeze in some racing before the weather moved in.
In the Super Pro Gambler’s Race on Friday night, fans witnessed a heavyweight clash between two past national champions. Phil Harvey came out on top over Adam Bitzanis with a solid .014 reaction time and a dead-on 9 to seal the win. Bitzanis posted a .022 light but scrubbed off 8 mph at the stripe trying to tighten it up. Dale Gauthier, the last remaining door car, bowed out in the semifinals.

In Footbrake, it was another trip to the winner’s circle for Darryl Jensen, who earned the automatic win after Russ Fraser broke in the round prior and was unable to make the call for the final. Patrick Proulx was the lone semifinalist in the category.

On Saturday night, racers regrouped for the now-traditional Angers Fun Party held at the Napierville Dragway Restaurant. The plan was to resume racing Sunday morning, but unfortunately, rain returned just before 8 a.m., forcing Super Tour officials to postpone the remainder of the weekend.
Thankfully, a makeup date was available, and the Super Tour will return to Napierville Dragway on July 4–7, just one week after the Summer Bracket Nationals at Luskville Dragway.
