NEW CHAMPIONSHIP FORMAT FOR 2026

Entering its eleventh season in 2026, Canada’s biggest stage in drag racing is introducing a new format for the championship standings. This year, competitors in all three classes: Super Pro Door Car, Super Pro Dragster, and Footbrake, will battle on the same overall leaderboard, and only ONE racer will be crowned the 2026 National Champion.

The racer with the most points across 10 of the 11 events in the 2026 season will be crowned the 2026 National Champion and will receive $5,000 plus a Carlyle 1500 Series toolbox.

Positions 2nd through 12th will be awarded prize money. In addition, the top two finishers in each class (excluding the champion) will receive a $500 bonus on top of their position payout.

Entry into this year’s National Championship is $150, regardless of class. Racers may double-enter the championship. Points will be calculated the same way as in previous years: 300 points for attendance, 200 points per round win (live), and 100 points per round win after a buyback.

Team rule: Championship registration must be under one single driver name. That driver must compete in more than 50% of the races, at least 6 out of 11. The registered driver may designate a replacement driver for up to 5 races. The replacement driver must be the same person for all replacement races and must run the same car number as the driver they are replacing.

Car selection rule (Super Pro): When you select your car type for the Super Pro championship, you must compete with that same car type in more than 50% of the races, at least 6 out of 11, to be eligible for the $500 bonus. If a racer does not comply with this rule, they will not be eligible for the $500 bonus but will still receive their championship payout. If a racer switches cars, they must keep the same car number at all times for points to be accumulated.
