The Spring Bracket Break presented by Castrol, in collaboration with Duraquip and Brossard Performance, made its return this weekend at Napierville Dragway after being postponed due to weather in June.

The event gathered over 65 entries in Super Pro, 50 in Footbrake, and 16 Juniors. Action began on Friday with the Gambler’s Race, where 2016 Super Tour Champion Kyle Jessup of Renfrew, ON, driving his Undercover Dragster, scored the win over Serge Forget of Drummondville in his Plymouth Duster. Both drivers had nearly identical reaction times, but Jessup took the win as Forget lost traction mid-track.

In Footbrake, the final round featured Darryl Jensen of Kemptville (Camaro) and Martin Lassiseraye of QuΓ©bec (Mustang). Lassiseraye claimed the win with an excellent .010 reaction time, giving him the cushion he needed at the stripe without going under.

Saturday’s main event in Super Pro was won by Dominic Cianciarelli of Laval in his Dan Page Dragster, defeating Allen Ray of Belleville in a Chevy II. Cianciarelli left with a 0.006-second advantage and sealed the win with a .019 total package, 0.004 better than Ray. Max Gauthier and Kyle Jessup were the semifinalists.

In Footbrake, Alain Marois of Drummondville (Mustang) took the win over Steve Duquette of Rouyn-Noranda (Corvette). With a 0.06 head start at the tree, Marois claimed the win at the eighth-mile mark.

Saturday evening featured another set of Gambler’s Races. In Super Pro, Serge Forget returned to the final for a second straight day, this time taking the win with a .019 total package over Brandon Barker of Smiths Falls, ON, who was mathematically ineligible with a .027 reaction.

In Footbrake, Stephen Ballantyne of Luskville (Chevette) took the victory over Russ Fraser of Brockville (Mustang). Both drivers ran ”dead-on” their dial-ins with a 4, but Ballantyne’s reaction time gave him the edge at the stripe.

On Sunday, action continued with Andrew Stirk of Amaranth, ON (Mustang) defeating Al Ray, who reached the final for the second consecutive day. Despite Ray’s 0.012 starting line advantage, he gave up the stripe and the win went to Stirk. The lone semifinalist in the class was Shawn Fournier of Vermont in a Dan Page Dragster.

In Footbrake, Stephen Ballantyne scored his second win of the weekend, defeating Frank BΓ©land of QuΓ©bec. Both drivers broke out, but Ballantyne did so by the smaller margin.

In Junior Dragster, Annabelle Soucy of Gatineau picked up the Saturday win over Parker Seguin, while Shelbie Seguin took the Sunday victory over Miguel Nadeau.

The next stop on the Super Tour is at Luskville Dragway for the 44th annual Bracket Bonanza at the end of the month, Canada’s biggest bracket race!
