SUPER TOUR – OFFICIAL RULES & CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS

1. CLASSES & RACE DISTANCE

– The Super Tour features two competition classes: Super Pro and Footbrake.

– All Super Tour racing is contested on the 1/8 mile.

– Electric vehicles are not permitted in Footbrake and must compete in Super Pro.

– Dial-in boards are mandatory for all entries.

– An engine diaper or approved oil-containment device is mandatory on any vehicle running 5.60 seconds or quicker.

2. ENTRIES & DOUBLE ENTRIES

– A race car may go down the track a maximum of two times in the same class, and a driver may go down the track a maximum of two times in the same class.

– Double entries are allowed in any combination, provided the two-entry maximum per car and per driver is respected.

– A racer may compete in a second class in addition to being double-entered in one class.

– In Super Pro, Door Cars and Dragsters compete on separate sides of the ladder until four entries remain.

– A Super Pro Door Car that is double-entered must run its second entry on the Dragster side of the ladder.

– A Dragster that is double-entered must run both entries on the Dragster side of the ladder.

3. ELECTRONICS

Super Pro

– Throttle stops are permitted in Super Pro only.

– A throttle stop may activate and deactivate only once during a run.

– Traction-control devices and SLEW-control devices are strictly prohibited. The use of any prohibited traction-control or SLEW device will result in expulsion from the Super Tour Series.

– Crosstalk is enabled in Super Pro.

Footbrake

– Transbrakes are prohibited in Footbrake.

– Line locks are permitted.

– Two-steps may be used for the burnout only.

– Two-steps for launching are permitted on clutch-equipped vehicles.

– Electric vehicles are not permitted in Footbrake.

All Classes

– Autostart is in effect.

4. TIME RUNS

– No time run is required to compete in eliminations.

– The number of time runs offered at each event will be determined by the Race Director based on the event schedule, track conditions and available time.

– Once time runs for a class have been completed, they are completed for everyone.

– A racer changing vehicles after time runs have ended will not receive an additional time run.

5. BUYBACKS

– Buybacks are available following the first or second round of eliminations.

– Only one buyback per entry is permitted.

– A buyback allows a racer to return to competition with the same vehicle used to begin eliminations.

– Once eliminations have started, vehicle substitutions are not permitted.

6. ELIMINATION PAIRINGS & LADDER

– During the first three rounds of eliminations, racers will advance through designated staging lanes and will not be paired by a ladder.

– When two staging lanes are used, racers choosing the left lane will line up in Staging Lane 1, while racers choosing the right lane will line up in Staging Lane 2.

– When car count requires four staging lanes, racers choosing the left lane will line up in Staging Lanes 1 and 3, while racers choosing the right lane will line up in Staging Lanes 2 and 4.

– Racers will retain the racing lane they selected when entering the staging lanes unless one staging lane empties before another. Racers from the remaining staging lane or lanes will then be paired by alternating racing lanes. The first racer will retain their selected lane, the racer immediately behind must switch to the opposite lane, and this alternating procedure will continue as necessary.

– Beginning with the fourth round of eliminations, all remaining entries will be placed on a computer-generated ladder.

– Once the ladder has been established, it will remain in effect and will progress normally through the remaining rounds of eliminations.

– From the fourth round forward, lane choice will be determined by a coin flip between the two racers before each pairing.

– In Super Pro, Door Cars and Dragsters will remain separated until four entries remain.

7. BYE RUNS

– During the first four rounds of eliminations, the bye run will be awarded based on the best reaction time from the previous round.

– Beginning with the fifth round, the remaining entries will follow a traditional ladder. If there is an odd number of entries, the entry positioned at the top of the ladder will receive the bye run.

– An entry may receive only one bye run per race, unless every remaining entry has already received a bye run.

8. STAGING & DIAL-INS

– Racers are responsible for reporting promptly to the staging lanes when their class or pair is called.

– A two-minute waiting rule is in effect. Unnecessary delays will not be tolerated.

– Double-entered racers are responsible for having both entries ready and reporting to the staging lanes on time.

– Once an entry has been called from the staging lanes and leaves for the racing surface, the dial-in may not be changed.

– A race vehicle must stage under its own power.

– Once a racer stages, the displayed dial-in is accepted. It is the responsibility of the driver and crew to verify that the correct dial-in is displayed before staging. An incorrect dial-in will not be grounds for a rerun once the racer has staged.

9. TIMING SYSTEM ERRORS & RERUNS

– In the event of a timing-system malfunction or error, the Race Director will determine whether both entries will advance to the next round or whether the race will be rerun.

– If a rerun is ordered, racers may not change lanes or dial-ins.

– The decision of the Race Director regarding a timing-system error is final.

10. VEHICLE CHANGES

– A racer may change vehicles before eliminations begin, provided the replacement vehicle meets all applicable class, entry and competition requirements.

– No time run is required in the vehicle used to begin eliminations.

– Once eliminations have started, vehicle substitutions are not permitted.

11. RAINOUTS & WEATHER

– If an event is cancelled or postponed to a later date because of weather conditions, racers who are physically present at the track when the official decision is made will receive 150 attendance points.

– If a rainout occurs during an incomplete round of eliminations, the event will revert to the previous fully completed round.

– Any remaining purse money will be divided equally among the racers still eligible at the end of the previous completed round.

– Championship points will be awarded for all completed rounds.

– In the event of forecasted bad weather, entries and payouts from scheduled races may be combined into one race.

– When two scheduled races are combined into one race, the payout for that race will be doubled. Championship points will not be doubled.

12. REFUNDS & ENTRY TRANSFERS

– Once an entry fee has been paid, no refunds will be issued, including in the event of mechanical failure.

– A paid race entry may be transferred to another driver competing in the same class.

– A racer who will be absent may pay the applicable race entry fee to retain attendance points only.

13. PAYOUT ELIGIBILITY

– When an event pays a predetermined number of finishing positions, racers must advance to a round where the number of remaining entries is equal to or less than the number of advertised payout positions before becoming eligible for payout.

– For example, if an event pays 16 positions, a racer must advance into the final 16 entries to qualify for payout.

CHAMPIONSHIP REGULATIONS

14. CHAMPIONSHIP ELIGIBILITY

– Racers must be registered Super Tour members to earn championship points and be eligible for championship awards.

– A racer may enter the championship points chase a maximum of two times.

– A racer who is double-entered in the same class must clearly display a different car number for each entry during every round of competition.

– The two numbers must remain consistent throughout the event and must clearly identify the racer’s first entry and second entry, both for race administration and championship points purposes.

15. CHAMPIONSHIP POINTS

Championship points are awarded as follows:

– 300 points for attendance.

– 200 points for each round win before using a buyback.

– 100 points for each round win after using a buyback.

– The best 10 scores out of 11 races will count toward the final championship standings.

– The King of the Tour is determined through one combined overall ranking consisting of:

Super Pro Dragsters
Super Pro Door Cars
Footbrake racers

– All eligible racers accumulate points under the same championship points system.

16. TEAM / REPLACEMENT DRIVER RULE

– A championship registration must be registered under the name of one primary driver.

– The registered primary driver must personally compete in more than 50% of the championship races, which means a minimum of 6 of the 11 races.

– The registered driver may designate one replacement driver for a maximum of 5 races during the championship season.

– The replacement driver must be the same person for all replacement races.

– The replacement driver must compete using the same car number as the registered primary driver.

– Championship points earned by the approved replacement driver will be credited to the registered championship entry.

17. SUPER PRO CAR TYPE & BONUS ELIGIBILITY

– When registering for the Super Pro championship, a racer must select a competition type: Dragster or Door Car.

– To remain eligible for the $500 class bonus, the racer must compete with the registered car type in more than 50% of the championship races, meaning at least 6 of the 11 races.

– A racer who does not meet this requirement will remain eligible for the regular championship payout but will not be eligible for the $500 class bonus.

– Racers may change race vehicles during the season, but the same registered car number must be maintained for championship points to continue accumulating under that entry.

18. CHAMPIONSHIP TIE-BREAKER

– In the event of a tie in championship points, the racer who reached the tied point total first will be ranked ahead.

– To move ahead of that racer in the standings, another tied racer must surpass that point total. Simply matching the same point total will not move the racer ahead.

– If two or more racers remain tied at the conclusion of the championship, tie-breaker points will be applied to determine their respective final positions in the championship standings.

GENERAL SAFETY & CONDUCT

19. TECHNICAL INSPECTION

– The Race Director reserves the right to inspect any race vehicle at any time during or after an event.

– A racer who believes another vehicle is in violation of the rules may request an inspection. The Race Director will determine whether an additional inspection or teardown is warranted. The Race Director’s decision regarding technical inspection and rule compliance is final.

20. ON-TRACK INFRACTIONS

– A red-light start during eliminations results in an automatic loss unless the opposing racer commits a more serious violation.

– Crossing the centerline or leaving the designated racing surface results in disqualification.

21. RETURN ROAD & PIT SAFETY

– After every time run or elimination round, racers must return to the pit area slowly and safely using the designated return road.

– Speeding and burnouts are strictly prohibited on the return road and in the pit area.

– No motorized pit vehicle may be operated by anyone under 16 years of age or by anyone without a valid driver’s licence. This rule will be strictly enforced at all Super Tour events.

– Racers are responsible for ensuring that all members of their crew comply with this requirement.

– Failure to comply may result in the pit vehicle being prohibited from further use during the event and may result in additional disciplinary action at the discretion of the Race Director.

22. ALCOHOL & CONTROLLED SUBSTANCES

– The use of alcohol or controlled substances by any driver or crew member during racing activities is strictly prohibited. Anyone removed from an event for violating alcohol, controlled-substance, conduct or safety rules will not receive a refund.

23. SPORTSMANSHIP & RACE DIRECTOR AUTHORITY

– All racers and crew members are expected to conduct themselves in a safe and sportsmanlike manner at all times.

– Any intentional action designed to rush, distract or create an unsafe situation for another competitor may result in disciplinary action at the discretion of the Race Director.

– The Race Director has final authority regarding rule enforcement, safety decisions, race procedures and any situation not specifically covered by these rules.
