Super Tour Fall Bracket Championship in Luskville: Mission Accomplished

A very busy weekend awaited the promoters and racers at the Super Tour Fall Bracket Championship which took place during the last Labor Day Weekend at Luskville Dragway.

The event presented by NAPA Auto Parts in collaboration with B&W Race Cars and Get Quik Trailer Sales kicked off early Friday with the resumption of the last day of Bracket Bonanza which had been postponed due to rain.

In the Super Pro category two local drivers met in the final as Derek Malcolm from Ottawa carried over the $10,000 win in his S10 pickup against Vars’ Terry Miron with his Diamond Dragster. Malcolm got the bye run in the semifinals as Miron beat Jamie Clarmo from Edwards, Ontario.

In the Pro category, Stephen Ballantyne from Luskville with his trusty Chevette got the best of Fred McDonald from St-Sulpice with his Camaro in th final round. McDo knocked out defending champ Mike Reynolds from Ottawa in the semifinals while Ballantyne had the bye to the finals.

Due to the bad weather forecast yet again, Race director Arnie Malcolm made the decision to run both Fall Bracket Championship races on Saturday.

In the first Super Pro race, Russ Adams from Ottawa with his Diamond Dragster took the win over Max Gauthier from Belleville with his Camaro in the final. Adams got passed Terry Miron in the semifinals while Gauthier had the upper hand over Kyle Jessup.

In the Pro category, defending champion Mike Reynolds won against Julien Laporte in the final. Reynolds had the better of Brock Godmaire in the semifinals while Laporte got the bye.

The final of the second Super Pro race was finally contested the following weekend as Max Gauthier was once again back in the final against Jamie Clarmo. It was Clarmo who took home the $5,000 win. Gauthier had the bye run to the finals while Clarmo took out rookie Felix Ballabey to access the final round.

In the Pro category, Larry Lepine became the first winner of a Super Tour race behind the wheel of a motorcycle! Lepine from Gatineau knocked out Steven Clarmo from Edwards on his Chevy Malibu. The winner had the advantage over Daniel Blouin from Quebec in the semi-final while Clarmo had the bye.

In the Juniors, Ryan Clarmo won the first race over Logan Angers while Trevor Monaghan won the second race over his sister Lea.

Terry Miron currently leads the National Super Pro Championship with a small 100-point lead over Russ Adams and defending champion Adam Bitzanis. Rookie Felix Ballabey is an excellent figure in the top 5. The best score in the Door Cars belongs to Dale and Max Gauthier.

In the Pro category, 2016 National Champion Fred McDonald is comfortably installed in the lead with an 800 point lead over Claude Labelle. Daniel Blouin, Russ Fraser and Stephen Ballantyne round out the top 5.

In the Junior Class, Ryan Clarmo gets the ball rolling with a few points ahead of Trevor Monaghan. The fight will be very tight  in this category during the next race!

The next Super Tour weekend takes place this weekend, September 25-26 at Luskville Dragway. The Canadian Bracket Finals presented by Para Performance in collaboration with B&G Performance Sunoco Race Fuels and Val-D’Or Chrysler will close this sixth season of Bracket Super Tour activities.
